Bollywood Update: Amitabh Bachchan, 81 has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan to become the highest tax-paying celebrity of India for the financial year 24-25. He has paid a tax of Rs. 120 crores over an income of Rs. 350 crores with his major earnings coming from brand endorsements and as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The Kalki 2898 AD actor earned Rs. 350 crore this year with a tax liability of Rs. 120 crore to become the highest tax-paying celebrity in the country. His tax liability had a 69 percent increase from the last year’s Rs. 71 crore.
Bachchan’s been a part of some of the highest-grossing films in 2024 including Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, and starred alongside Rajnikanth in the film Vettaiyan. Despite the popularity and massive success of his recent film, his major source of income was his many brand endorsements and being the host of the quiz reality show, Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Despite his age, Bachchan remains an icon, and trailblazing actor who is a popular choice to be the face of major brands.
According to a source speaking to Pinkvilla, “From starring in some of Indian cinema’s biggest films to being the top choice for major brands, Amitabh remains an actor in demand. His earnings from these ventures amount to ₹350 crore, making him one of the highest individual earners in the industry.”
Bachchan has defeated the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to become the highest tax-paying Indian celebrity. SRK’s contribution stood at Rs. 92 crore last year due to the consistent box office success of Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, followed by Thelapathy Vijay’s 80 crore with great success in Tamil cinema, and Salman Khan at Rs. 75 crore coming from films, TV, and endorsements and limited film release.
Amitabh Bachchan is currently reported to be working on the new season of the quiz reality show, Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16, where he has reprised his host duties are confirmed by several sources.
