World Poetry Day 2025: “We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is full of passion.” This dialogue from the classic film Dead Poet’s Society resonated with every heart, young or old, reminding us of the role of poetry in the lives of humans as a flowing river of the expression from the heart to words to make sure it never gets too heavy to carry within.

UNESCO declared 20 March as the World Poetry Day in 1999 to celebrate the universal appeal of poetry that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers promoting peace through dialogue and linguistic expression.

Here are some Bollywood actors who have also introduced their talent for poetry through social media.

Amitabh Bachchan

Carrying forward the legacy of his legendary poet father Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Bollywood’s iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan imbibes the talent of poetry writing which he regularly posts on his blog and sometimes on his social media platforms including Instagram and X.
