Ananya Birla Quits Music: Indian singer with English music discography, Ananya Birla on Tuesday announced the ‘hardest decision’ of quitting music for channeling all her ‘energies to the business world. Ananya is a singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and eldest daughter of India’s sixth richest man Kumar Mangalam Birla of Aditya Birla Group.

The eldest daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla, the chairman of Aditya Birla Group and Neerja Birla, Ananya Birla was born on 17 July 1994 as Ananyashree Birla. An enthusiast of music since her early years, Ananaya is a self-taught santoor and guitar player who went to the American School of Bombay followed by a place in Oxford University to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in economics and management.

She is the eldest sibling to Aryanman Birla and the sixth-generation scion of the Birla family.

From her early years, two things have been driving Ananya i.e. music and entrepreneurial zeal. She describes herself as a ‘businessperson and artist’ on her website.
Having learned musical instruments herself, Ananya started off as a cafe/pub performer writing her own music. She forayed into music in 2016 with her debut single ‘Livin The Life’. She became the first Indian artiste to have a global release through PM: AM Recordings with the remix of her single from Dutch DJ Afrojack.
In 2017, she released her certified Platinum single ‘Meant To Be’ making her the first Indian artist to go Platinum per the Indian Music Industry certifications.
Subsequently, ‘Hold On’ and ‘Circles’ in 2018, ‘Better’, EP ‘Fingerprint’, and ‘Day Goes By’, in 2019, were her most popular and commercially successful tracks.
Ananya became the first Indian to be featured on ‘Sirius XM Hits’ -an American national Top 40 pop radio show.
Businesses built under the leadership of Ananya stay true to the values of transparency, empathy, and hard work. She is the founder of Svatantra Microfin Private Limited, a microfinance company lending small loans to women entrepreneurs in rural India. Svatantra is also the first microfinance institution to receive the Non-Banking Financial Company – Microfinance Institution (NBFC-MFI) license from the Reserve Bank of India, according to Svatantra’s website.

Staying true to her vision of empowering Indian artisans and their craft, Ananya founded ‘Ikai Asai’, an inventory-based global luxury e-commerce platform.
Ananya embodies the legacy of philanthropy and the welfare of her family. She with the help of her mother took a mental health initiative in India, ‘MPower’ with the vision to destigmatize mental illness and provide mental health treatment.
Ananya Birla Foundation is an initiative by her “ to bring the power of music to the youth and underprivileged communities of India.”
Ananya has also endeavored to act with ‘Shlok: The Desi Sherloc’, a 2023 spy thriller.
With her decision to quit, she hopes the English music by Indian artists will thrive.
