Delhi New CM: The answer to who will take the reins of Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation is Atishi Singh. Atisihi Singh will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi as AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal will submit his resignation this evening. He announced his resignation on 15 September.
Aitshi Singh is a party leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and in charge of the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency unit. She emerged as the strongest contender in the race to be the next CM after Kejriwal with her regular interaction as a front face of the party during the water crisis in Delhi, since the arrest of Education Minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case followed by Kejriwal’s imprisonment. Atishi was born to two Delhi University professors Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi on 8 June 1991. For her education, she attended the Springdales School, in New Delhi followed by a Bachelor’s in History from the prestigious St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. She went to Oxford University for her Master’s degree in History on a Chevening scholarship in 2003. She was a Rhodes Scholar in Educational Research from Magdalen College, Oxford in 2005.

Before turning to politics, Atishi has dedicated seven years of her life to working with farmers of Madhya Pradesh on organic farming and a progressive education system. It was during this time she met the party members of AAP.
Her political career started in 2013 when she joined the Aam Aadmi Party. She played a key role in the formation of party policy. In 2015, she gained particular prominence for her role in the Jal Satyagraha in Madhya Pradesh, with AAP leader Alok Agarwal.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections she earned the chair of East Delhi in-charge East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency but lost against BJP’s Gautam Gambhir.
In 2020, victory knocked on her door in the Delhi Legislative Assembly election where she emerged as the winner from the Kalkaji constituency of South Delhi defeating Dharambir Singh of BJP.
She was then inducted into the Delhi Government as a Cabinet Minister after the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyender Jain.
She has also played an active role in various committees since 2022 including the Public Accounts Committee, Committee on Women and Child Welfare, Committee on Welfare of Minorities, and Standing Committee on Education and Health.
