Bangladesh Court Rejects The Plea To Ban ISKCON In The Country

29 Nov, 2024

Bangladesh Violence:  The Dhaka High Court has rejected the plea to ban the operation of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Thursday. The petition was filed by the Supreme Court lawyer Md. Monir Uddin after the unrest and alleged attacks on ISKCON across the country following the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

His arrest resulted in widespread unrest and protest across the country with reported attacks on ISKCON. The denial of bail to Krishna Das resulted in clashes between security personnel and protestors leading to the death of public prosecutor Saiful Islam.
Several people from the Hindu spiritual community claimed that arrest and unrest are part of a larger pattern of persecution against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.
