Who is Shilpa Shirodkar? 

To the cinema enthusiasts who have spent hours watching movies from the 90s, Shilpa Shirodkar is an established name in the Hindi film industry who has worked with stars like Mithun Chakraborty and Amitabh Bachchan. To those unaware, Shilpa Shriodkar is an actress and former model with a versatile and popular filmography from the year 1989 to 2000. 

She was born to a Marathi actress Gangubai on 20 November 1973, and is the granddaughter of veteran Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirdokar. Her younger sister Namrata Shirdkar is a former Miss India, and Shilpa is the sister-in-law of Mahesh Babu. 

In 2000, she tied the knot with a UK-based banker Aparesh Ranjit with the decision to leave the film fraternity and her flourishing Bollywood career to raise a family in the United Kingdom. 

After 13 years of her hiatus, she made a comeback in showbiz on the small screen, for Zee TV’s ‘Ek Mutthi Aasmaan’. Take a look at her filmography from the 90s. 

Shilpa Shirodkar Filmography 

Shirodkar had her big break alongside Mithun Chakraborty and Rekha for her debut film ‘Bhrashtachar’ in 1989. ‘Kishen Kanhaiya’ marked her hit film with Anil Kapoor in 1990 followed by a string of hits or successful films including ‘Trinetra’, ‘Hum’, ‘Khuda Gawah’, and her most recognizable work ‘Gopi Kishan’. She did her last film in 2000 called ‘Gaja Gamini’. 

In 2013, Shirodkar decided to resume her work as an actor, and made a comeback with the ZeeTV show followed by a Star Plus show ‘Silsila Pyaar Ka’ and Colors TV’s ‘Savitri Devi College & Hospital’. 

Despite her willingness to work, Shirodkar has faced difficulty in getting new opportunities. With Bigg Boss 18, she wants the platform to convey her aspirations to work again in the industry.
