BTS Jungkook breaks silence on his Tattoo criticism ‘denying my past self’

BTS Jungkook is known as one of the boldest and someone who is the most vocal about his feelings as a member out of the septet. BTS Golden Maknae Jeon Jungkook went live on Instagram a few days ago and spoke his heart out as he engaged with the ARMY. While there were many highlights from the Instagram live, especially the ‘Unholy ft. Jungkook’, the youngest, also broke silence about his body tattoos and the criticism he receives for this.

Previously BTS members confronted fans about their comments regarding his tattoos, including the concealment of his "eye" and the lettering "ARMY." Maintaining the calm yet responsible persona Jungkook mentioned the reason why he can't remove the tattoo and the reason behind getting one. The english translation of the same states 


“Removing them is painful. I don't like pain. Removing them hurts, and I heard it takes a while. I understand why some people want to get them removed but...really? Because, it's something that I've wanted. That's why they remain. If I remove them, that means I am denying my past self. That past self was also me. So, I don't think removing them is the right thing (for me)."

Jungkook has a lot of tattoos inked on his arm and body, the BTS member has since received mixed reaction from Korean fans. Since getting tattoos is considered inappropriate in Korean culture, Jungkook’s tattoos were often concealed during a photoshoot or concert. Jungkook in his early training days was himself against getting his body inked, however as time passed his admiration towards getting tattoos grew. 

Which BTS member doesn't have a tattoo?

While Jungkook and Jimin are known to have got quite a lot of tattoos on their body, other members including Jin, J-hope, Suga, RM and Taehyung are known to have gotten no. 7 inked on their body recently. However Taehyung has still not shared his tattoo online. 

BTS on the work front

Following Kim Seokjin’s enlisting in the military, BTS Suga is due to drop his solo album before fulfilling his mandatory military services, following which other members will join accordingly. Till now RM, J-hope and Jin have dropped their solo projects. Suga, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook are still in the queue.
