Chaitra Navratri 2025: Know The Correct Date and Rituals of Kanya Pujan

Chaitra Navratri 2025: The nine days of celebrating and worshiping the nine forms of Goddess Durga, Chaitra Navratri began on 30 March. After the nine days of worshiping and fasting, the devotees bid farewell to the goddess on the day of Kanya Pujan usually done on either Asthami or the eighth day or Navami i.e., the ninth day.

This year the Asthami and Navami will fall on the 5th and 6th of April respectively. Devotees can do the Kanya Pujan on either day with a set of rituals. 

Begin the Kanya Pujan day with a bath, and fresh clothes. Start the Kanya Pujan by preparing the food to feed the young girls worshipped as the form of the Goddess. Welcome the kanya or the young girl in your home by washing their feet, tying a sacred thread on their wrist, and putting a vermilion mark on their forehead. With food, also offer some gifts to the Kanyas.
