On April 26, a naxalite incident happened in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. The IED explosion claimed the lives of 10 District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans and a civilian. At the police ground today, tributes were given to the warriors who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the nation during this attack. Following the Maoist attack, CM Bhupesh Baghel also decided to postpone his trip to Karnataka and instead went to the police line ground to honour the fallen soldiers. CM Bhupesh Baghel handed the dead body his shoulder as a final farewell on this particular occasion.
After speaking with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah conveyed his sorrow over the loss of the jawans in the IED explosion and promised to assist in any way he could. Shah tweeted: "Saddened by the Naxalites' cowardly attack on the Chhattisgarh Police in Dantewada. have informed the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister that the state government will receive every assistance available. I offer my sympathies to the troops' bereaved families.
