Coronavirus Update: New Zealand reports a Covid-19 case, nationwide lockdown announced, 40% surge in cases in India

Coronavirus Update:

One amongst the few countries that became Covid-19 free, and had no Coronavirus cases, New Zealand has now reported its first Covid-19 case after 6 months. While soon after hearing of the news, the New Zealand Prime Minister announced a nationwide lockdown in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, in a Television interaction, shared that the case found is of Delta variant and we can’t take any risk with that.

The Coronavirus case in New Zealand has been found in Auckland, and due to this, a nationwide lockdown of 3 days has been imposed, while in Auckland, a 7 days lockdown has been imposed.

Further research on the source of the Covid-19 case by the Health Department is underway. 

Covid-19 cases in India:

India reported 35,178 Coronavirus cases with 440 deaths in the past 24 hours. Total active Covid-19 cases in India are 3,67,415, while 37,619 people have recently recovered from the Covid-19 virus.
