A Recap for COVID-19 Prevention in India; adopt these measures to prevent yourself from getting infected

COVID-19 has wreaked havoc all over the world. What began in China has triggered a global rise, with India accounting for tens of thousands of deaths in the horrific second wave. COVID-19 has changed the way we work, live, and communicate. Despite intensive international and national efforts over the past year, the epidemic has had a significant impact on people’s health and the economy. Nonetheless, the Indian government has responded to the threat by taking severe measures to detect, treat, and reduce virus spread.

Corona Increase in India

Due to the significant increase in Covid-19 cases in India, the Ministry of Health has organized statewide mock exercises on Monday and Tuesday to check hospital preparedness. The drills will include both public and private facilities. In a meeting on Friday, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya instructed states to increase genomic testing. In India, the number of daily Covid-19 instances increased slightly on Monday from the day before to 5,880. A total of 5,357 cases were reported on Sunday. Data from the health ministry show that there are currently 35,199 active infections.

COVID- 19 Common Symptoms

Symptoms may vary based on immunization status with new COVID-19 mutations. Elderly persons and people with existing medical issues such as heart or lung disease or diabetes are more likely to become very ill with COVID-19. The most common symptoms of coronavirus include:

  • Cold or fever
  • Cough
  • Respiratory issues or shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Body or muscle aches
  • Headache
  • New changes in flavor or odor
  • Unwell throat
  • Runny or congested nose
  • Nausea or diarrhea

COVID-19 Measures, Prevention

Since corona has stepped again into our lives, here are some of the common preventive measures suggested by the government and medical institutions to keep yourself protected against infection.

During an epidemic, the importance of hand hygiene must be emphasized; however, excessive perceived fear and anxiety of Covid-19 transmission associated with the handling of door handles/knobs, lift buttons, newspapers, vegetables, and eatables must be addressed with appropriate information, education and communication (IEC) campaigns. These measures are low-cost and have little impact on daily life, yet they can directly benefit the people who engage in these behaviors. However, their long-term acceptability would necessitate consistent IEC efforts at all levels, as well as a shift in thinking at the individual and social levels, which would aid with community-level COVID-19 prevention and control.

  • Be immunized as soon as possible and follow local immunization recommendations.
  • Maintain a physical distance of at least one meter between yourself and others, even if they don’t appear to be sick. Avoid crowds and tight quarters.
  • When physical separation is not possible and the environment is inadequately ventilated, wear a mask.
  • Hands should be cleaned on a regular basis with an alcohol-based hand massage or soap and water.
  • When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue. Discard used tissues promptly and wipe your hands on a regular basis.
  • If you experience symptoms or test positive for COVID-19, isolate yourself until you recover
