IAS Rajesh Kumar Singh takes charge as New DPIIT secretary

Rajesh Kumar Singh, a senior IAS officer, was appointed secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on Monday. Anurag Jain, who was named secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has been replaced by Singh.Singh worked as the Secretary for the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying before to joining DPIIT Singh is an officer of the Indian Administrative Service from the 1989 Batch from Kerala-cadre.

Gate named after Sachin Tendulkar unveiled at SCG to commemorate his Birth Anniversary

In honour of the Indian batting legend's 50th birthday, a gate at the storied Sydney Cricket Ground was dedicated in his respect on Monday. Tendulkar, who turns 50 on Monday, averaged 157 at the SCG, which he referred to as his favourite cricket venue outside of India, scoring three hundreds and 785 runs with a maximum score of 241 not out (in 2004) in five Test matches.
