Desire to learn transcends Religion: The Muslim teacher who knows Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana by heart

Learning over religion: The Surat, Gujrat-based teacher, a practitioner of the Islamic faith has memorized ‘shlokas’ and ‘chaupayis’ from the two popular Hindu scriptures, the epic Ramayan and Hindu’s sacred Bhagavad Gita. 

Mohammad Sulemani Michala 
Mohammad Sulemani Michala is a 69-year-old teacher from Surat, Gujrat who has learned the Ramayan and Bhagavad Gita from heart. He has memorized all the ‘shlokas’ and ‘chaupayis’ from the respective texts in his quest for knowledge and wisdom. His desire to learn has transcended religious boundaries and has set a great example of cultural harmony, unity, and reverence among diverse faiths in the country.

Reading habit changed his life

His reading habit has been the ‘good habit’ he developed at the age of 15 which led him to Hindu scriptures texts as well. He has in his possession the Gujarati and Urdu versions of the text symbolizing how the desire to learn goes beyond religion and language.
