TV and Bollywood actress Sakshi Tanwar is in the headlines these days for her upcoming Netflix’s web series Mai. The web series is going to be released on OTT on March 15 and all eyes are on Sakshi and her never seen before character. Sakshi is playing a vengeful mother in her upcoming series ‘Mai’ which is very different from the characters she has played before. In this exclusive chat with us, she talks about her character Sheel, what keeps her youthful and what kind of characters she would like to play in the future.
The web series Mai is directed by Atul Mongia. Atul is also making his debut as a director with this series. Talking about the series, she shared on why he cast Sakshi Tanwar for this series.
Atul Mongia said, “ The story is not inspired by my mother but the character has been taken from my mother. I wanted to remember that this woman is like my mother or universal mother. I never want to forget this and it is for me to remember what it would have been like if my mother was in a situation like this. I have given this character my mother's name.”
'We had a mock shoot. We took two of the toughest scenes. One of which you see in the trailer that Sakshi Tanwar is hitting someone with a stick. He did this scene in an unbelievable way. I remember she met me for the first time after reading the script and she Sakshi told me that I am very scared to do this, but I want to do it.' He further added.
Released in April 15, Mai is a story of a grieving mother who discovers the criminals behind her daughter's tragic death, and transforms from meek to merciless to get the real story. The film stars Sakshi Tanwar, Raima Sen, Wamiqa Gabbi, Vivek Mushran and others in pivotal roles.
