Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit and addressed the event. AYUSH installation and innovation was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Accompanying PM Modi, the World Health Organization's Director-General Dr Tredos Ghebreyesus and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth were also present during the program.
Addressing the event, the Prime Minister said that the possibilities of investment and innovation in the field of AYUSH are limitless. We are already witnessing unprecedented growth in the production of AYUSH drugs, supplements and cosmetics. In 2014, where the AYUSH sector was less than $3 billion. Today it has increased to even more than $ 18 billion.
He said that FSSAI has announced a new category named AYUSH diet in its rules only last week. This will greatly facilitate the producers of herbal nutritional supplements. India is also going to make a special AYUSH mark. This mark will be applied to the highest quality Ayush products made in India. This AYUSH mark will be equipped with the provisions of modern technology. This will give people all over the world the confidence of quality AYUSH products.

PM Modi said that the government is taking another initiative for foreign nationals who want to come to India and take advantage of AYUSH therapy. Very soon, India is going to introduce a special AYUSH visa category. This will facilitate people to travel to India for AYUSH therapy. 'AYUSH' denotes Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy. India has a central ministry dedicated to these alternative medicine systems. The special "AYUSH visa" will help those who wish to seek traditional treatments in India
He said that the possibilities of investment and innovation in the field of AYUSH are limitless with the country having witnessed unprecedented growth in the production of AYUSH medicines, supplements and cosmetics.
He also said that there are also possibilities of investment and innovation in supply chain management, AYUSH-based diagnostic tools and tele-medicine. The Union Ministry of AYUSH has also taken steps to encourage start-up culture in the field of traditional medicine, and an incubation centre developed by the All India Institute of Ayurveda was inaugurated recently.
