Grammys 2024 Winners: The 66th Recording Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles on 4th Feb from 8 pm (ET). Several global artists from across the world graced the event in stunning red-carpet appearances and spectacular performances buzzing fans with overwhelming emotions. The event kick started with popstar Dua Lipa’s opening medley with “Dance The Night,” “Houdini”. The Grammys was attended by top artists including Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Paris Hilton, SZA, Rapper Ice Spice, Miley Cyrus, and others. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the Grammy 2024 witnessed big wins and record breaking moments with Taylor Swift becoming the first person who have won the prestigious Album of the Year award for the fourth time. 

PM Modi Nominated For Grammys

While several musicians won the the Grammys, the moment was equally heartwarming for Indians with Shankar Mahadevan, Tabla Maestro Zakir Hussain, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, and Ganesh Rajagopalan band ‘Shakti’ won the Grammy in Best Global Music Album for ‘The Moment’. The songs “Shadow Forces” by Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer, and Shahzad Ismaily, “Alone” by Burna Boy, and “Abundance In Millets,” a song by created by Falguni and Gaurav Shah featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were among the nominees in this category. PM Modi was also amongst the grammy nominees this year for “Abundance in Millets.” PM Modi co-wrote the song, which also includes some of his speeches. The song was written to support the UN’s resolution declaring 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets’ on the recommendation of the Indian government.

Grammys 2024 Indian Winners

With three Grammys, Zakir Hussain became India’s top performer at the global musical event, while Rakesh Chaurasia took home two honours. Music Album “This Moment,” which won the Best Global Music Award and beat PM Modi's “Abundance in Millets” and other nominees, is the band’s first studio album in more than 45 years, and it was released in June 2023. Apart from Shakti, Zakir Hussain received two other awards: Best Global Music Performance for “Pashto” and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for “As We Speak” with Rakesh Chaurasia.
