Gujarat Election 2022: Shock to Arvind Kejriwal in Kutch, AAP candidate supports BJP candidate

28 Nov, 2022

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is making tall claims in the Gujarat Assembly Election 2022, has suffered a major setback. The AAP candidate from Kutch district's Abdasa assembly seat has surprised everyone by announcing his support to the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. AAP had given ticket to Vasant Valjibhai Khetani from Abdasa, but he resigned from the party on Sunday.

After this, he appealed to the voters of Abdasa to vote for BJP candidate Pradyuman Singh Jadeja and make him win. After the last Gujarat Assembly elections, many Congress candidates had joined the BJP, but the Aam Aadmi Party candidates are changing sides even before the voting.

Voting in two phases

Voting for the election of the 182-member assembly of Gujarat will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. Polling will be held in Kutch in the first phase. There are 6 assembly constituencies in Kutch, including Abdasa, Bhuj and Rapar bordering Pakistan, besides Mandvi, Anjar and Gandhidham.

The BJP had won 4 seats in 2017, while the Congress had won in Rapar and Abdasa, but the MLA from Abdasa left the party in 2020 and later won the election on a BJP ticket. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had fielded candidates for all the 6 seats in Kutch, in which the Abdasa candidate went to the BJP.

AAP Surat east candidate also withdraws

AAP candidate from Surat East Kanchan Jariwala had withdrawn his nomination. He had said that party workers are asking for money and they do not have money. He had said that one crore is being spent and he is unable to do it. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party had alleged that Kanchan Jariwala was abducted and threatened, so he has backed down.
