Coldplay in India: The season of fests and concerts is in its full fury with artists from India and abroad selling out stadiums in mere minutes. Businessman Harsh Goenka, the chairman of the RPG group has made a statement in this light on the high prices of the concert tickets in India underscoring the divide of class in India.
The tickets for Chirs Martin’s band went live earlier this week and the response crashed the ticket-selling platform “BookMyShow”. Recently, the tickets were again open to sale but with five times the initial price of Rs. 2,500. Responding to the same, Goenka said “Urban Indians are clearly shifting from Roti, Kapada, Makaan to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Coldplay’s January 2025 shows sold out swiftly, with resale prices hitting 5x the original. Diljit’s tickets, priced at Rs. 7,000, saw massive sales, as did Dua Lipa and Bryan Adams concerts.” highlighting India's growing divide he further said, “Two Indias are emerging– one enjoying these luxuries, while the other struggles to meet basic needs”.
