‘Hinduism is older than Islam, Kashmiri Pandits converted to Islam’- Ghulam Nabi Azad | Kashmir

Ghulam Nabi Azad On Kashmiri Muslims:Ghulam Nabi Azad, a former leader of the Congress and the head of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, has made a significant comment which is going viral on social media. According to Ghulam Nabi Azad, everyone in Kashmir converted from Hinduism to Islam. The veteran leader in his viral video was seen addressing the people of Jammu and Kashmir stating that Hinduism is way old than Islam and that Islam must have been introduced from the outside. The remark has set the internet ablaze with a wide range of debates taking place.

Ghulam Nabi Azad on Muslims converting from Hindu

The  Democratic Progressive Azad Party made a controversial statement saying  “10-20 people from the Mughal army. The rest have converted from Hindu-Sikh." The leader went on to say that "We made this nation for Dalits, Kashmiris, Muslims, and Hindus and that no one came from the outside.” Pointing out towards the parliament sessions he remarked “I argued with a colleague MP who insisted that certain people were outsiders. In modern India, Islam has existed for almost 1500 years. Hinduism has a lengthy history, and while a few people may have converted to Islam during the Mughal era, most of these conversions took place within the borders of India. An example of this is in our own Kashmir.”

Towards the conclusion, Ghulam Nabi Azad was heard questioning who was Muslim 600 years ago. He then said “All of them were Kashmiri pandits who later converted to Islam and thus all of us were born in this religion”
