IAS Toppers Success Story:

Hailing from a small town of Panipat named Samalkha, this girl named Madhumita has fulfilled her father’s dream to become an IAS officer, by becoming one. In 1987, Madhumita’s father appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination but couldn’t clear it.

Madhumita completed her schooling at Maharaja Agrasen School and her BBA from PIET college and was a gold medalist at the Kurukshetra University. After this, Madhumita went on to pursue an MA in Public Administration from IGNOU. While not stopping here, Madhumita is also a gold medalist winner of the All India Maths Olympiad. Madhumita’s father is an ex-Indian Air Force servant and after retiring from there, he works at the Market Committee.

How Madhumita passed for 2 failed UPSC Attempts

Madhumita gave her first attempt for the UPSC Civil Services exam in 2017 where she reached the Main stage but couldn’t clear the Interview round. In 2018, Madhumita appeared for the UPSC Exam for the second time, but couldn’t even clear the Prelims exam this time. While the scores earned in these two attempts were proof of the sheer hard work of Madhumita, without any coaching. But after failing the two times consecutively, Madhumita decided to move to Delhi to get admitted into Test Series. She shares that preparing for the UPSC exam with self-study was the best way to study, but referring to a coaching center for this also added to her knowledge.

Madhumita had constant support from her parents, as being a part of a joint family, her parents were usually approached by relatives to get Madhumita married, but her parents constantly denied the same, and decided to not concern her until she fulfills her dreams. During Madhumita’s brother’s marriage, she remained in Delhi to prepare for her Mains exam, and the sacrifice earned Madhumita her dream to become an IAS officer. And finally, Madhumita cleared her UPSC Civil Services exam in 2017 to become an IAS Officer that too with 86 rank.

Madhumita’s parents are really proud of her that she became an IAS officer and believe that there is no difference between a girl and a boy.
