Jeep is ready to launch the 7-seat Meridian SUV in the Indian market, after unveiling on March 29 this year. The pre-bookings have officially started. Deliveries of the Meridian will begin in the month of June. The company has commenced the production of this SUV at its Ranjangaon facility near Pune in Maharashtra. Let’s take a look at its specifications.
Looking at the exterior design, the silhouette is very much similar to the compass but with a slightly more upright stance. The SUV gets LED headlamps with integrated DRLs similar to Compass, a seven-slot grille, a muscular front bumper with a large air intake, LED fog lamps, side cladding with indicators and newly designed alloy wheels. Many believe it looks similar to the Brazilian market Jeep Commander.
The new Jeep Meridian will be offered in three variants including FWD MT, FWD AT, and AWD AT. The beast will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel motor producing 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual unit and a nine-speed torque-converter automatic unit. Also on offer is a 4x4 system.
Jeep claims that the Meridian will have a top speed of 198 kmph while it can do 0-100 kmph in 10.8 seconds. The Jeep Meridian will feature up to 82% localisation and has been specially designed, engineered, and tuned for Indian road conditions keeping in mind the refinement expected by customers in the segment.

The Interior layout is almost as similar as that of the Jeep compass model but with three rows of seating and a brown colour theme. The Jeep Meridian have many features which includes a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen, 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charging, powered tailgate, connected car technology, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dedicated AC vents for the second and third-row seats, power operated passenger seat and many more.
The Meridian has an introductory starting price of Rs 29.90 lakh and is available in five configurations with the top model costing Rs 36.50 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
