Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 11 Contestants: Dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 11 is currently airing on Sony Entertainment Television. The show premiered on November 1, 2023 with Farah Khan, Malaika Arora, and Arshad Warsi introduced as the judges. A total of 11 contestants participated in season 11 including prominent television personalities like Shoaib Ibrahim, Bigg Boss 16 contestant Shiv Thakare, Amir Ali, Urvashi Dholakia, Tanishaa Mukerji, and others. Recently, 6 new wild card entries were announced on the show, including Dhanashree Verma, Sagar Parekh, Awez Darbar, RJ Glen Saldanha, Manisha Rani, and singer Nikhita Gandhi.

Nikhita Gandhi Early Life & Education

Nikhita Gandhi was born in Kolkata, India, into a mixed Bengali and Punjabi family on October 1, 1991. Her mother Nipa Gandhi and father Uday Veer Gandhi both work as dentists. She also has two brothers. Nikhita completed her education at Kolkata’s esteemed La Martiniere for Girls. Nikhita later moved to Chennai in 2010 to pursue her dental studies, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery from Ramachandra University. She studied western classical music at the KM College of Music & Technology. She has spent 12 years studying Hindustani music and Odissi dance. 

Nikhita Gandhi Music Career

In 2013, Nikhita made her playback singing debut with the song “Modern Kalyanam” from the Tamil film “Kalyana Samayal Saadham.” In 2017, she made her Bollywood debut as a singer with the song “Raabta Title Song” from the film “Raabta,” which starred Kriti Sanon and the late Sushant Singh Rajput. Nikhita, a former student of A. R. Rahman’s K. M. College of Music and Technology, first interacted with Rahman when she was a member of a choir that sang alongside the German orchestra during an Indo-German exchange. Rahman then took a personal audition of Gandhi for a commercial with Shekhar Kapur called “Qyuki.” She recorded a Bengali album called Kotha in 2012, which was a reworking of songs by famous poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, known for his Nazrul Geeti.

Among the many popular Bollywood songs that Nikhita has sung are “Ullu Ka Pattha” and Jagga Jasoos, which she performed with Arijit Singh. Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Jab Harry Met Sejal, Kedarnath, Luka Chuppi, Sooryavanshi, and Tiger 3 are just a few of the movies for which she has sung songs. She has also performed Tamil and Bengali song vocals from films including Kishmish, Varisu, Leo, and Cockpit.  Her songs “Poster Lagwa Do” from Lika Chuppi and “Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe” from the film Stree both became massive hit. She also contributed her vocals to Badshah's song "Jugnu," which went viral right away. 

Nikhita Gandhi Awards & Achievements

In addition to her movie singing, she formed a band and has given performances in Kolkata and Kerala. Her band, "Noor," consists of Godfrey Immanuel, Joshua Gopal, Jerard Felix, and Sajith Sathya. Additionally, she contributed three vocals to the biographical film "Pelé: Birth of a Legend (2016)," which is based on the life of the Brazilian football player of the same name. For the title track of "Raabta," she was named the Zee Cine Awards 2018's best female playback singer. She was also a nominee for the 63rd Filmfare Awards in the best playback singer (female) category, for the song "Ghar" from Jab Harry Met Sejal. She was awarded the best Nestle Kitkat Sony Mix Audience Music Award in 2019 for best duet with Arijit Singh for the song Qaafirana from Kedarnath.
