 Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao, also known as KCR, is a famous Indian Politician who serves as the first and present Chief Minister of Telangana since 2014. Born on 17th February 1954, KCR is the leader and founder of a regional party in India known as, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Also a Member of Legislative Assembly of Telangana representing the Gajwel constituency, KCR has previously also served as the Member of Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh from Siddipet and also a Member of Parliament from Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar and Medak. Rao took his first oath as the Chief Minister of Telangana in 2014 and was re-elected by the same legislative assembly for the second time in 2018. Education and early life: Born on 17th February 1954, K. Chandrashekhar Rao was born in Chintamadaka village near Siddipet of present-day Telangana to Raghava Rao and Venkatamma. KCR attained a degree in MA (Literature) from Osmania University, Hyderabad. 

Rao further went on to start his career with the Youth Congress party in Medak District.

Personal Life and Achievements: Married to his wife Shobha, KCR has two children. Rao’s son K.T. Rama Rao is also into this political career and is a legislator from Rajanna Sircilla District, Previous Karimnagar district, Telangana and works as a cabinet minister for IT, Municipal Administration & Urban Development Departments. Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the daughter of  Chandrashekhar Rao is an Ex-MP from Nizamabad, Telangana. Rao’s Nephew Harish Rao is also an MLA for the Siddipet constituency and now works as the cabinet minister for finance, in the Telangana government.  A brother to 9 sisters and 1 elder brother, KCR has a good command over languages such as English, Hindi, Telugu and Urdu. Rao currently lives with his family at the official chief minister residence named Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad City. 

Rao in his lifespan till now has been awarded thrice for the Choice Award at CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in 2014, Agricultural leadership award in 2017 and Economic Times Awards- Business Reformer of the Year in 2018 respectively.
