K-pop concerts in India: When KARD, VAV, EXO & more came to test out the water; this is how desi fans welcomed

K-pop idols who visited India: While Desi K-pop fans wait impatiently for famous K-pop bands such as BTS, EXO, Stray Kids, TXT, Blackpink, Twice, and others to pay a visit to India because they consistently leave us off their world tour lists, there have been a few K-pop groups and Idols who have visited India in the past to test the waters, and the crowd did not disappoint them. Well, the events occurred prior to the epidemic, and since then, the public's interest in Korean entertainment has shifted dramatically, with Indians falling in love with everything from K-drama to K-pop even more. In today’s edition we will talk about K-pop groups and K-pop idols who visited India and what was the response.

K-pop idols who visited India

KARD concert in India

The most recent K-Pop group to perform in India is KARD. The four-member quartet  performed in Delhi and Guwahati in July 2020. As part of their 'Play Your KARD Right' tour, the South Korean band performed at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in Guwahati. They even danced on Kartik Aaryan's song 'Bom Diggy Diggy. KARD, one of the most popular South Korean bands to perform in India, is made up of J Seph, BM, Somin, and Jiwoo. Talking about their experience in India they said “It is our first time in India but we never imagined that we would have so many fans here. So we really wanted to do this (tour) for the fans. We did not get the time earlier but now we're here”.

VAV concert in India

This K-pop group won over the dei k-pop fans in such a way that the magic is still in the air. After announcing their mini tour in India the South Korean Band not only performed their own song but also sang some Bollywood covers and the rest is history. The band consists of 7 members named St. Van, Baron, Ace, Ayno, Jacob, Lou, and Ziu. Talking about their trip to India in an interview conducted by Korean cultural center in Delhi, they talked about how excited they were to meet their Indian fans and how hard they had worked to prepare for the trip, including a unique version of "THRILLA KILLA" and Bollywood music. They expressed an interest in working with Bollywood in the future. When asked how they were received by Indian fans, they said that "each member checks sns every day and is aware of what Indian fans did on Twitter to welcome them, and that the love they are receiving has exceeded their hearts."

M.O.N.T concert in India

M.O.N.T the trio group is not a new name among the fans of Kpop in India. We can even claim that the group were also in love with Indian fans since they paid their visit in the country not once but twice in 2018 and 2019 respectively. They traveled to Nagaland, Imphal, Manipur, and Delhi in 2018. And Mumbai as well as Bangalore in 2019. “what we missed about India the most was the food. The food was so delicious that we gained a lot of weight. But we look forward to trying different Indian food again”. After wrapping up their Bangalore schedule the group were surprised by so many K-pop fans in the city & felt overwhelmed by all the love & support.

EXO Suho visit to India

Not the whole K-pop group but EXO member Suho sure did came along with SHINee’s Minho, SUPER JUNIOR’s Kyuhyun, INFINITE’s Sungkyu and CNBLUE’s Jonghyun to test the water of India back in 2015. We agree that the market was not as huge as it is today but the fact that the first hallyu wave in India probably kicked off due to the vast exol-s in India cannot be neglected. Before BTS Army it was EXO-L’s who used to rule the K-pop market in the country. The Idols paid the visit as a part of a Variety show. While Minho enjoyed Indian cuisine, Suho took a more rational approach, absorbing the culture. He was very interested in learning why the Hallyu wave has yet to reach India and what they could do to reverse it. They should plan it now and we can bet they will fall in love all over again.

IN2IT and AleXa concert in India

This was probably the best k-pop concert in India and proved to be a huge hit. At their Mumbai concert in April 2019, IN2IT and AleXa stunned spectators with their  Bollywood moves. But you all remember them with the signature dance step on bole chudiyaan which went so viral on the internet that it still trends. On the IN2ITxION tour's first night, the band performed classics including "Paradise," "Be Bop Baby," "2U," and more, as well as stunning renditions of BTS' GOT7, EXO, and other artists. AleXa and the band's cover dance rendition of the Bollywood classic "Bole Chudiyan" was, nevertheless, the evening's standout.
