UPSC optional subjects list:

UPSC Civil Service Exam or the IAS exam is considered one of the toughest exams in the country, as lakhs of students appear for the exam every year, but only a handful of them get selected further to become an IAS officer.

The Civil Service Exam Pattern is,

Phase 1: Civil Service Exam (Prelims) which is an Objective Type Exam

Phase 2: Civil Service Exam (Mains) which is a Descriptive Exam

Phase 3: Personal Interview for Personality Test

It must be noted that the students who clear the Prelims exam have to choose one optional subject for their Mains exam.

Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Nepali, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Santhali, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and English.
