There might be several reasons for not receiving an ITR refund. A major reason for not receiving a tax return right away is incorrect or missing information on the Income Tax Return (ITR) form. Any difference in your banking information, residence address, or email ID may cause a delay in your tax return. As a result, it is important to confirm the accuracy of the information you submit when completing your ITR.

It is also possible that the tax officer would request further documentation to substantiate the taxpayers’ claims in the return. In such circumstances, the tax officer will send a notice to the taxpayers demanding the documents. The refund will be executed once the officer has validated the paperwork. Another important cause of tax refund delays is the failure to authenticate the ITR. After completing the paperwork, taxpayers will be required to validate the return using an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) or an Aadhaar-based one-time password (OTP), according to the Income Tax Department. If an ITR is not validated within 120 days of being filed, it is considered invalid. As a result, the issue of tax refunds may be interrupted.
