MAMA Awards 2023: Unveiling the Theme, Hosts, Streaming Platform, Nominations, Glorious Winners, and Everything You Need to Know!

MAMA Awards 2023: Mnet Asain Music Awards commonly known as MAMA awards is an annual ceremony to honor the hard work and popularity of Korean artists in the world. The major music event is celebrated as the World’s Number One K-Pop Award, with a unique theme every year. The theme for this year has been ‘One I Born’ implying the ‘One’ is the “being with infinite possibilities meeting and becoming a perfect 'One' through positive energy" as announced by the CJ E&M, the entertainment company organizing the event. 

Time, Date & Venue

CJ E&M announced the venue for the ceremony at Tokyo Dome, Japan. The events would span a duration of two days, 28 November 23 and 29 November 23 praising the illustrious artist with the global fan base. 

The ceremony went live at 6:30 KST and 2:30 pm IST. For the fans in Japan, the event is available on Japan’s television music channels Mnet Japan, Mnet+, and au Smart Pass. the award will also air on tvN Asia in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Philippines, and Taiwan. The live streaming of the ceremony is also available on the official YouTube channel of Mnet. 

Jimin and Jisoo bag Multiple Nominations 

Jimin of the  BTS K-pop band has earned multiple nominations, becoming one of the most nominated solo artists. Following his lead, Jisoo has also clinched a total of six nominations in the categories of Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Worldwide Fan’s Choice, Best Female Artist, Best Dance Performance – Female Solo, and Best Music Video.

Jimin has a total of 8 nominations up his sleeves, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year,  Album of the Year, Best Male Artist, Best Collaboration, and Best Performance- Male Solo. 

Out of the eight, he has 5 nominations as a lead artist and the rest 3 as a featured artist. 

Host, Performers, and Winners 

The ceremony is hosted by the Korean singer Jeon So Min on the first day, and Park Bo Gum, actor and singer on the second day. 

The performers lined up for day one were Hong Eunchae, Lee Young Ji, Yoshi, Jang Hao, Haruto, and Hyun-Suk who performed the theme song to commence the ceremony. Other artists performing on the first day include Jeon So Mi, JustB, TXT, Treasure, and more.

The second day’s performance would be shouldered by Ateez, BoyNextDoor, Riize, and Seventeen among others. 

The winners of the events are coming in hot as we speak from the live events streaming on various platforms. Yoshiki has won the Favourite New Artist, BTS, TXT Zerobaseone has triumphed in the Worldwide Fan’s Choice Category, and the rookie K-pop group Riize has bagged the Favorite New Artists Awards. Moreover, INI has been voted as the Favourite Asian Male Group, and Treasure being the Neo Flip Artist this year.     

The two-day event continues with peak thrill and arduous joy. The anticipation of the results of the rest categories is high, and fans are rejoicing as their favorite artists win. The annual mega event celebrating music in Asian countries rewards the artists and their supporters with music, and entertainment.
