Mehul Choksi Arrested: ED and CBI Officials to Bring Back Fugitive Diamond Merchant From Belgium

Mehul Chokshi Arrested: Following the arrest of fugitive Mehul Choksi in Belgium, India requested his extradition. Choksi’s legal team, which is wanted in India in the Rs 13,000 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) loan fraud case, has filed an appeal against the arrest. Meanwhile, following the arrest of Mehul Choksi, officers from the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) have been nominated to travel to Belgium. They will create documentation and coordinate with the Belgian government to complete the extradition process.

CBI-ED Officers Prepare to Go Belgium

According to a source, when Choksi was detained and arrested, conversations began at CBI and ED headquarters to finalize the identities of two to three officers from each agency. Following the selection, they will begin compiling the documentation as there could be a possibility that Choksi will contact higher authorities to challenge his extradition.
