Mehul Choksi Arrested: Fugitive Diamond Merchant Arrested From Belgium in PNB Scam

Mehul Choksi Arrested: On Monday morning, news came out that fugitive diamond dealer Mehul Choksi had been apprehended in Belgium two days earlier on April 12. Mehul Choksi is suspected of escaping after embezzling Rs 13,000 crore from Punjab National Bank. Choksi fled India after conducting a financial scam. 

India Request Deportation of Mehul Choksi

According to media sources, Indian officials contacted top Belgian officials and asked them to initiate the extradition procedure for Mehul Choksi. Following this, the administration arrested Choksi. Mehul Choksi is accused of robbing Punjab National Bank of Rs 13,500 crore, together with his nephew Nirav Modi. Mehul Choksi founded his company Gantanjali in 1996 and now has over 4000 outlets across the country.
