Met Gala 2024: The much-anticipated night of fashion has arrived as the Met Gala 2024 was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York today, on 7th May. Like every year, the event was graced by many renowned personalities and celebrities across the globe, paving their way to elaborate the illustrious theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The arena was filled with the colours of nature, from cool blue to turquoise, some were bold and some went for a subtle side of the theme. The event featured about 250 rare items from the Costume Institute’s collection. While celebs like Cardi B, Zendaya, Penelope Cruz, Nicki Minaj, and Lana Del Ray looked as stunning as ever, Indian celebs stole the show with their gorgeous collections perfectly resembling the dress code “The Garden of Time.”
While many known faces seemed to skip the red carpet, Alia Bhatt stole the spotlight with her beautiful custom-designed mint green saree by Sabyasachi, styled by Anita Shroff Adjania with real gems and a 23-foot-long train. Apart from Alia, Natasha Poonawalla, and Isha Ambani also revisited the Met Gala Red Carpet this year. This year as well, many Indian personalities made their debut showcasing marvellous creations that are worth talking about.
Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Mona Patel made sure her debut would live on in history! Wearing an off-the-shoulder, body-hugging Iris Van Herpen gown inspired by fluttering butterflies synchronizing with the dress code “The Garden of Time,” Mona Patel made her debut at the Met Gala 2024. The outfit featured a marbling fabric with Van Herpen’s trademark sculptured elements. Patel enchanted the audience with her dress’ highlight—the 3D butterflies that fluttered on her sleeves—giving her ensemble a mystical look.

Designer Sabyasachi made his highly anticipated debut at the Met Gala 2024, becoming the first Indian designer to walk the red carpet after garnering attention for his iconic ensembles. In his one-of-a-kind creations, renowned fashion designer Sabyasachi, known for his flawless craftsmanship in the international fashion industry, presents regal grandeur combined with India’s rich cultural legacy. For his debut look, Sabyasachi wore fitted beige pants and a white shirt, finished with a matching belt. His cotton duster coat from the Sabyasachi Resort 2024 collection, which had elaborate floral embroidery with golden sequin borders, caught everyone’s attention. The designer accessorized the look with tourmalines, pearls, emeralds, and diamond jewellery.
Recently seen in the Netflix series “One Day,” comedian and actress Ambika Mod also made her Met Gala debut with a monochrome black and white gown from Loewe.
