Myanmar Earthquake: 1000 Killed So Far, More Than 1500 Injured, Massive Devastation in Thailand and Myanmar

Myanmar Earthquake: On Friday, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake devastated Myanmar and Thailand. The dead toll from Myanmar’s earthquake has increased to 1,000, with 1,670 injured.  The US Geological Survey estimates that the death toll could approach 10,000. According to local time, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at 11:56 p.m. Friday. 

Indian Government Sends Aid

Following the earthquake, an emergency was declared in Bangkok. India has dispatched approximately 15 tons of relief goods to Myanmar via C130J aircraft to assist Myanmar. Under Operation Brahma, INS Satpura and INS Savitri have gone for Yangon port with 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid. An 80-person NDRF search and rescue team has also departed for Naypyidaw. These crews will assist in rescue efforts in Myanmar.
