Nitin Gadkari:  Nitin Gadkari is currently serving as the Road Transport and Highways minister for the past nine years. He is the longest-serving Minister for Road Transport & Highways and is contesting in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from the Nagpur seat, in hopes of a hat-trick victory after the 2014 and 2019 polls. Nitin Gadkari Family 

Born in a Marathi family on 27 May 1957 in Nagpur to Jairam Gadkari and Bhanutai Gadkari, Nitin has been a compassionate leader since childhood due to his mother's great influence. He developed his philanthropic self by learning to help from her mother, which continues to shape his views of politics. For Nitin, politics is not a career but a social service via which he wants to work for the needy in society.   

He is married to Kanchan Gadkari, and the couple has three children. 

Nitin Gadkari Educational Qualifications

Gadikar is a lawyer by profession. He has done his Masters in Commerce and LLB from Nagpur University, Maharashtra. 

In his formative years as a college student, he entered into the realm of politics with the RSS, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and later joined the Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the BJP. It was his prowess in academics and student politics that made his transition into mainstream politics recognizable, creating a launch pad for a better future in politics and public service.

  • Former BJP President (2009-13) 

Gadkari has been a member of the Maharashtrian Legislative Council since 1989, and the leader of the opposition there from 1999 to 2005. He shouldered the responsibility of BJP President in Maharashtra till 2009 and was escalated to the post of the BJP National President and the youngest party president yet. 

He was the PWD minister of Maharashtra between 1995 and 1999.   

Nitin Gadkari Achievements

Gadkari is known as the “Expressway Man of India” for his immense contribution to the roadway network and infrastructure. Under his successful tenure of 9 years as Minister of Road and Transport, India Network grew by 59 percent. He also received the Late Madhavrao Limaye Award by Public Library Nashik, for Most Efficient Member of Parliament for 2020-21.
