Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in a program organized on the occasion of completion of 120 years of the sugar industry that sugar mills were closing down six years ago and the sugarcane farmer was running away from this cultivation. In a program organized at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in the capital, Yogi said that six years ago the number of sugarcane farmers in the state was 45 lakh and now there are 60 lakh sugarcane farmers. Using technology, arrangements were made to make sugarcane slips available online and weighing was stopped.An amount of Rs 1.97 lakh crore was sent to sugarcane farmers in their accounts through DBT in six years. When this amount reaches two lakh crores, a function will be organized and celebrated. Today, the maximum number of 118 sugar mills in the country are in UP. Now sugar mills are coming in the form of sugar complex.
