World News: The ongoing violent anti-quota protest in Bangladesh has resulted in over 4,500 Indian students returning home via land borders and flights along with some students from Nepal, Bhutan, and Maldives as reported by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Over the past two days, the Indian High Commission and Assistant High Commission have been relentlessly facilitating the return of Indian students as the backlash of the anti-quota protest in Bangladesh is reflecting on Indian nationals as well.
The protest began after the Bangladesh High Court ruled in favor of a job quota for the family of fighters who fought in the 1971 war. Even though the quota percentage has been brought down from 56% to 7%, the protest still continues.
