Paris Olympics 2024: Days after winning the first medal for India at the ongoing Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker created history by winning another bronze medal for India, making the total tally count to two. With this, Bhaker became the first Indian player in Olympic history to win two medals in the same Olympic season. Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won a bronze medal in the 10 m Air Pistol Mixed Team. Apart from Bhaker, this moment is also memorable for India’s rising shooting player Sarabjot Singh, who made his Olympic debut in 2024 and made India proud. The Ambala boy has previously won several medals, and his journey is full of determination and inspiration.

Sarabjot Singh Family Background

Sarabjot Singh, born in September 2001, is from Dheen village in Ambala, Barara block, Haryana. His father, Jatinder Singh, is a farmer, while his mother, Hardeep Kaur, is a homemaker. Coming from a simple family, he attended DAV College in Chandigarh. Sarabjot began learning to shoot in 2014 at a school camp in a nearby village with coach Shakti Rana. His father bought him his first pistol after he won a bronze medal in a national youth competition, starting his official shooting career.

Sarabjot Singh Shooting Career

Sarabjot trains at the Central Phoenix Club with coach Abhishek Rana of the Ambala Cantt-based AR Shooting Academy. Sarabjot Singh’s shooting career began in 2019 when he won the ISSF Junior World Cup gold medal, making history. Sarabjot won gold medals in individual and team events at the 2021 World Championships.

Sarabjot competed for India in the 10m air pistol team event at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, defeating China. He also won a silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, alongside Divya T.S. In addition, he earned a bronze medal in the individual event at the 2023 Asian Championships. 

Sarabjot Singh Olympics 2024

At the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris, Sarabjot made his Olympic debut and took home a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team competition alongside Manu Bhaker, making him the sixth Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal. With 580 points overall, the duo placed third in qualifying and defeated Korea 16-10 in the bronze medal match.
