The "Rocket Woman of India," Ritu Karidhal, is a well-known scientist and engineer with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). She has made important contributions to India's space programme and is well-known for taking the helm of the 2014 Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM).

Karidhal studied aeronautical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi after being born and raised in a tiny hamlet in Uttar Pradesh, India. As the deputy operations director for the MOM mission, Karidhal was in charge of ensuring that the spacecraft was successfully placed into Martian orbit. Numerous awards, like the esteemed ISRO Team Award and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration, were given to her for her contribution on the project.
