Sonali Phogat Death: CBI will investigate Sonali's death, Goa CM Pramod Sawant's statement

Goa Police was investigating BJP leader and Tiktok star Sonali Phogat death case and 5 accused including Sudhir Sangwan were arrested. But now this investigation will soon be done by the CBI. Sonali Phogat's family was continuously demanding a CBI probe. Sonali Phogat's daughter Yashodhara herself had also made a demand here. And now Goa CM Pramod Sawant has said that the case of murder of actress and BJP leader Sonali Phogat will be handed over to CBI.

CM orders CBI investigation in the murder

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has recommended a CBI probe into the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat. Sawant said he would write to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting him to transfer the Sonali Phogat case to the Central Bureau of Investigation. In a statement to the media, CM Sawant said that following the request of Sonali's family members, especially her daughter, the state government would request Home Minister Amit Shah to hand over the probe into her death to the CBI.

Further, he said that he has faith in Goa Police and is trying his best in the investigation but his government will request to transfer Sonali Phogat's case to CBI as people are demanding it. Earlier on Sunday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had said that the CBI would investigate Sonali Phogat's death if the family was not satisfied with the Goa Police's investigation.

Arrests in the case

Phogat and his associates had a party on the intervening night of August 22 and 23 at the Curlies restaurant in Goa. Phogat, who rose to fame from Tiktok, was brought dead at a hospital in North Goa district on August 23, a day after reaching Goa. The Goa Police has so far arrested accused Sudhir Sangwan, another associate Sukhwinder Singh and three others in connection with the murder. On the other hand, the demolition work of some parts of Curlies restaurant at Anjuna Beach in Goa, linked to Phogat's death, resumed on Friday afternoon. Earlier the demolition process was stopped midway after the order of the Supreme Court.
