Toll Tax Rate Hike: NHAI Increases Toll Tax by 3-5% in 1100 Toll Plazas

03 Jun, 2024

Toll Tax Increase: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) increased the toll tax at midnight on Sunday. The annual increase came to an end in April due to the country’s general elections. Following the completion of all phases of the Lok Sabha elections, officials announced that road tolls across the country will rise by 3-5% beginning Monday.

Drivers Will Now Pay 5% More

Drivers will be charged an additional 5% toll tax at all toll plazas beginning today. According to a senior NHAI official, the toll fee is revised annually in response to changes in inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index. Different rates have been set for various vehicle categories. Drivers traveling from Meerut to Ghaziabad via the Delhi-Meerut Expressway or to Shamli via the Karnal Highway will be charged Rs.165 instead of Rs.160 at the Kashi (Partapur) toll plaza.
