Bollywood and UNICEF: Bollywood industry is not only about glitz and glam, every celeb shares a deep emotional connect with the ongoing social issues gripping the people on  global basis. In one such similar development, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has been appointed as the National Ambassador of UNICEF India to foster child care, early childhood development, health, education, and gender equality for all children. Kareena recently delivered specatuclar performance in the comedy-drama ‘Crew’. Following her appointment, many celebs congratulated her, and the actress herself felt honoured and determined to further contribute to global well being. 

Not only Kareena Kapoor, several other Bollywood celebs have been promoting social welfare in collaboration with the UNICEF India. Here’s the list.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Kareena is associated with the humanitarian aid organisation from around 10 years. The ‘Jab We Met’ actress has been with UNICEF India since 2014, and as India Ambassador, she will help the non-profit organisation advance every child’s right to early childhood development, health, education, and gender equality. Kareena had previously worked as a celebrity advocate for UNICEF India. 

Priyanka Chopra

Everyone is aware of PeeCee’s contributions to social welfare causes, and the actress has always been an active participant in public welfare. Priyanka has worked with UNICEF since 2006, and she was named the national and global Unicef Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights in 2010 and 2016, respectively. She advocates for a variety of causes, including the environment, health, education, and women's rights. Priyanka is very vocal about gender equality and feminism.

Amitabh Bachchan

One of the most beloved and celebrated actors of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan, aka Big B, has worked with UNICEF since 2002 and was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in April 2005.  In the same year, he helped UNICEF raise awareness about sexual violence against children and the threat of AIDS to them through the Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign. Bachchan was named the United Nations Ambassador for Girl Child in 2014.

Ayushmann Khurrana

Dleiveirng powerful on-screen performances in movies like ‘Andhadun’, ‘Dream Girl’, and ‘Doctor G’, Ayushmann Khurrana was named UNICEF India’s Celebrity Advocate in 2020, where he advocates for the abolition of child violence and the advancement of child rights. He was named a National Ambassador for Child Rights in 2023. The national award-winning actor is helping to support every child’s right to survive, thrive, and be protected, as well as promoting their voice and agency in decisions that affect them.

Aamir Khan

Bollywood star Aamir Khan joined UNICEF in 2011 and was named the organization’s national brand ambassador to promote childhood nutrition. The actor contributes to the prevention of malnutrition in children under the age of two.
