With the work of actors like Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, and Vidya Balan there is a cinema that is willing to take a women-led project with high stakes. More recently, the likes of Alia Bhatt and Kangana Ranaut are taking the legacy forward with their upcoming movies where women take charge.

Yashraj Spu Universe announced an upcoming women-led movie titled ‘Alphna’ starring Alia Bhatt and Munjya famed Sharvari. The announcement was made on YRF’s Instagram with a title introduction with the voiceover of Alia Bhatt. The voiceover highlights the significance of the word ‘alpha’ as the first letter in the Greek language and the ruler of ‘jungle’. The movie is now in the production stage with not much known about the plot.

Helmed by Vasan Bala, Jigra stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role as the sister of Vedang Raina’s character. Though much of the film’s plot is still kept under wraps, it is believed to be a movie about the shared bond of a brother and sister who are each other’s only pillar. Alia Bhatt called it a story of “courage, passion, and determination” while talking about her production ventures as she also produces the film along with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta,and Somen Mishra.
