Viineet Kumar Siingh:  Many times, one’s ambition and true heart’s desire take a backseat under the pressures of societal conventions, and parental expectations. Viineet Kumar Siingh’s journey to Bollywood is such a one. A young boy from Uttar Pradesh, with eyes swelled with the dream of acting and creating films, Siingh had to first go down the regular road of education before he could finally move to the city of dreams to nestle his dream into a reality. Today he is known for films like Chhaava and Gangs of Wasseypur, but his acting journey started at the age of 21.

Who is Viineet Kumar Siingh?

For the unversed, Viineet Kumar Siingh rose to the limelight in recent times for his portrayal of Kavi Kalash in Vicky Kaushal’s epic film Chhaava. His performance earned him critical acclaim and the audience’s love and recognition. He is an Indian actor primarily working in the Hindi film industry.

Education

Siingh was born in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh 28 August 1978 to a Mathematician. So indeed education and books were his first recourse to have a good life or so thought his parents and the world around him. 

A science geek and an artist at heart, Siingh is an MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Ayurveda from Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur. He has a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery degree from R. A. Podar Ayurved Medical College. He is also a national basketball player and wanted to pursue acting at the National School of Drama but could never due to his parents. But once medicine failed to provide him the solace he was seeking he moved to Mumbai to find a home in his first and only dream of films.  

Debut film and career 

Singh participated in Superstars Talent Hunt earning him his first opportunity to be a part of Sanjay Dutt’s film ‘Pitaah’. He then worked as an assistant director with Mahesh Manjrekar followed by a few side roles in Gori Tere Pyar Mein and Isaq where he went unnoticed until a Hindi-Marathi film ‘City of Gold’ got him his first break. 

The film brought him to the eyes of Anurag Kashyap who gave him the role of Danish Khan in Gangs of Wasseypur film series. 

His big break as the lead actor was in 2018 with the sports film Mukkabaaz exploring the dynamics of caste discrimination and dreams in the life of an aspiring boxer.  

He was then a part of Daas Dev, Gold, Saand Ki Aankh, Gunjan Saxena, and more recently in Superboys of Malegaon’ and ‘Chhaava’.
