Weather Update: Soaring temperatures in the national and financial capital of India have resulted in extreme heat and humidity. The residents of Mumbai and Delhi await some relief in the form of rain but the India Meteorological Department says that no rain is in sight for the two cities until a few days. Weather is pleasant in Southern states with heavy rainfall predicted in several northeastern states.
Per the regional weather department, the weather will remain hot and humid till 5 October with a generally clear sky and brightly shining sun. The temperature in the national capital city is expected to range from 27 degrees Celsius to 38 degrees Celsius.
Some relief from heat will be witnessed in the city post-5 October with a prediction of light to moderate drizzle.
The residents of Mumbai have been grappling with severe heat for the past few days. As temperature rises, the city braces for its notorious ‘October heat’ with intense heat and humidity making it difficult to stay outside. Furthermore, a clear sky makes it worse with the bright sunshine feeling scorching to bear.
In the weather forecast on X, the IMD has predicted very heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura with an orange alert. Widespread light to moderate wet spells will continue in the region this entire week scattered to fairly widespread rain in Sikkim and West Bengal.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are on a yellow alert today with very heavy showers expected in the regions.
IMD has issued a yellow alert for Kerala and Tamil Nadu warning of light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning. Similar weather conditions may persist in South Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
As the grip of the monsoon loosens on the Indian subcontinent, some states are facing the brunt of it while some are already under the effect of rising heat. With winter on the threshold of October, the country is ready to embrace a new season.
