Women’s Health: How to Know if You Have Breast Cancer, Early Signs and Symptoms

02 Nov, 2024

Breast Cancer: Breast cancer frequently manifests with specific signs and symptoms, the most common of which is a painless lump in the breast. While this lump may be painless at first, it is critical to watch for other changes, such as swelling or redness of the breast surface, non-healing sores, or nipple abnormalities such as retraction, changes in direction, or unusual discharge (clear or blood). These symptoms may persist despite therapy from general practitioners, such as antibiotics or ointments, indicating the need for additional medical assessment. Changes in breast shape or size that persist after a menstrual cycle should be regarded seriously.

Breast Cancer Symptoms

Breast cancer can sometimes appear in unexpected ways. For example, lumps may arise in sites other than the breast, such as the armpit, buttocks, neck, or lymph nodes. This type of presentation may indicate that cancer has progressed beyond the breast tissue. Any chronic changes in the breast or surrounding areas, especially if they do not resolve after one menstrual cycle, should be evaluated by a healthcare professional to rule out breast cancer or other diseases.
