Highest Grossing Movies 2023: For cinephiles like you and me, the end of a year means the return to monumental movies of the year. So while you soak up all that happened in the leaving year, enlisted here are the movies with the highest collections at the box office to help you rewind. 

Barbie 

The fourth directorial of Greta Gerwig featuring a cast ensemble of Margot Robbie, Ryan Rosling, Emma Mackey, Will Ferrel, Simu Liu with many other talented bunch of people, Barbie made a whopping 144.2 crores USD.

The movie not only entertained but also sparked conversations on gendered societal controls, and social institutions like patriarchy. And not to forget, the movie redefined pink as a gender-neutral color in theaters. 

Super Mario Bros. Movie

Released on April 7, 23 the movie based on a popular video game by Nintendo did a business of 136 Crores USD. The movie is an alternate-universe adventure story of two Brothers Mario and Luigi.

Super Mario Bros. became the highest-grossing film based on a video game and had the biggest worldwide opening weekend for an animated movie.     The voice artists in the movie were Chris Patt, Anna Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Jack Black.

Oppenheimer  

Sharing the release date with Barbie, Oppenheimer helmed by Christopher Nolan was in a cut-throat competition with Gerwig’s movie. This biopic thriller grossed 95.26 crores on a budget of 10 crores. Called the magnum opus of Nolan by Murphy, Oppenheimer is the story of the man and the event of the world’s first atomic bomb explosion.

And did you know Margot Robbie recently revealed that one of the producers of Oppenheimer asked her to push the release of her movie?

Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3  

James Gunn’s directorial Guardian of the Galaxy became the fourth highest-grossing movie of 2023 with a worldwide collection of 84.56 USD. The movie had Chriss Patt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Will Poulter, and Karen Gillian. It is the conclusive part of the Guardian of the Galaxy trilogy.

Fast X

The eleventh installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. The movie made a business of 71.41 crores USD. Keeping the security of the family in the central plot, Torreto is determined to protect them from Momoa who is on a rampant revenge for his father’s death.
