Actor Lee Sun-Kyu From ‘Parasite’ Found Dead Amidst Illegal Drug Abuse Investigation

‘Parasite’ Actor Died:  South Korean actor Lee Sun-Kyu famed for the Oscar award-winning film, Parasite has been found dead today in his car. The police have said that the cause of death is ‘presumed to be suicide’ The actor was a part of an investigation surrounding alleged drug abuse. 

The actor left a suicide note at home 

Yonhap, the South Korean news agency reported that his wife had found a presumably suicide letter. His wife filed a missing person report, alarming the police to investigate his whereabouts. Later on, the police found him dead in a part of Central Seoul. 

He had been a part of the investigation for an alleged drug abuse case and had been taken in for investigation three times. His last summon was on 23 December which continued till the next day before freeing him. He has also undergone several drug tests during the investigation however nothing suspicious came in the results. The news agency stated that he had been tricked into taking drugs by an alleged drug dealer/abuser who later tried to blackmail him for the same.

The last time Lee Sun-kyu interacted with his audience via media was in late October when he expressed his regret for getting dragged into an ‘unpleasant incident’  He said: “I sincerely apologize for causing great disappointment to many people by being involved in such an unpleasant incident, I feel sorry for my family, which is enduring such difficult pain at this moment.”  

Details of the Funeral 

Per the agency HODU&U managing the actor, an intimate funeral will be taking place ‘quietly’ with only his family members, and colleagues. The agency also expressed its condolences with an appeal to the audience to respect the emotions of his family and refrain from spreading misinformation. In an official statement, the company wrote, “Please respectfully refrain from spreading false information via speculation or malicious statements so that the final path of the deceased will not be unfair. The funeral will be held quietly with the deceased’s bereaved family and colleagues. We express our deepest condolences to the deceased,”
