Amitabh Bachchan Health: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan recently underwent an angioplasty at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. The 81-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Friday and reportedly underwent surgery for a clot in his leg. Sharing his health update, the “Piku” actor expressed gratitude on the ‘X’ platform and wrote, “T-4950 - in gratitude ever..” This is not the first time the actor has undergone surgery for any injury, there were several times when Big B suffered severe injuries on sets and took prolonged treatment, including his ‘Coolie’ accident. Amitabh Bachchan’s leg vein was severed by a metal piece during the filming of Kaun Banega Crorepati 14 in 2022. There was a lot of bleeding from his calf muscle on set, so he was taken to the hospital.
Amitabh sustained an injury while filming Thugs of Hindostan. He sustained a shoulder injury while filming an action scene for the 2018 film that also starred Aamir Khan. While the injury was not that much serious, he was still advised to use a body double, but he chose to do the scene himself.
This major accident was considered as the most life-threatening incident in Big B’s life, when he was shooting for Manmohan Desai’s 1982 movie Coolie, there was a scene where Punnet Isaar was to punch Amitabh Bachchan, who was around 40 at that time, but the actor mistimed it and got severely injured around his gut. Bachchan was rushed to St Philomena’s Hospital for an emergency surgery, and later shifted to Mumbai. At a time, doctors nearly announced the actor dead, taking the entire nation to a shock, while fans prayed for his well bring and recovery.
In 2000, Amitabh Bachchan got to know that he has Hepatitis B. Big B was in need of blood following his nearly-fatal Coolie accident, and many donors were ready to donate blood to Big B. The actor received 60 bottles of blood from 200 donors. In a hurry, Big B received a blood transfusion from someone infected with Hepatitis B, and as a result, he became infected. Amitabh Bachchan revealed this when the Union Health Ministry named him brand ambassador for the Hepatitis B campaign.
In 2000, Amitabh Bachchan experienced severe stomach pain and was admitted to hospital, where it was discovered that he had a problem with his intestine, which required diverticulitis of the small intestine surgery. During treatment, Big B discovered he had liver cirrhosis. In 2012, Amitabh Bachchan had 75 percent of his infected liver surgically removed.
