A politician, veteran playback singer, live performer, TV host, actor, and politician, parliamentarian Babul Supriyo is currently representing Asansol. He is the Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises in the Union Council of Ministers in India. Apart from this, he is also known for singing songs in 11 other languages.

Babul Supriyo Early Life:

Babul Supriyo was born in a small town in West Bengal. After completing his schooling at Don Bosco Lilah, he earned a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Calcutta. Before taking up singing as a full-time career, he worked for a few days at Standard Chartered Bank. Then he decided to enter the entertainment industry.

Babul Supriyo Political Career:

After successful decades in Bollywood, he entered politics in 2014 as a BJP candidate and won his first election in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, which was from Asansol. He defeated Dola Sen. He was made Minister of State in the Ministry of Urban Development, Housing, and Urban Poverty Alleviation. Later he was given the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

It must be noted that Babul Supriyo resigned a few months ago ahead of the Union Cabinet expansion.

Later he even announced his retirement from politics. He had said that he would also resign from the post of MP, but later he reversed his decision and said that he would remain MP and continue to serve the public.
