Bengal Bandh: The BJP called for a 12-hour strike in West Bengal from 6 AM to 6 PM on Wednesday causing an unwelcome halt in the daily life of the residents and delayed public transportation. The strike is against the police actions during the 'Nabanna Abhijan' rally against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkat’s R.G Kar college.
Public bus services have been significantly impacted by the strike with fewer public transport seen on roads. Despite the ‘bandh’ some shops and vendors have opened their shops displaying a mixed response to BJP’s ‘Bengal Bandh’. The halt in public transport has caused several inconveniences to regular commuters who depend on the buses for everyday traveling.
