2021- Chaurasia faced criticism online for his slurring reporting of the tragic news of the demise of CDS Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife, and 12 others in the Tamil Nadu helicopter crash. He was alleged to be drunk on air which he later denied saying he was suffering from the side effects of consuming painkillers. 

2023 - An arrest warrant was issued against him by the Haryana court in connection with a POCSO case from 2013. He was alleged to not appear in front of the court saying he had a meeting with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
