Dunki Movie Review: Shah Rukh-Taapsee Pannu Starrer Is A Mid-Range Entertainer With a Powerful Message

Dunki Twitter Review: SRK’s third movie of 2023, ‘Dunki’ is now screening in cinemas. While the critic reviews are awaited, fans have shared their opinions on social media after watching the movie’s first half. The first show of ‘Dunki’ was screened at 5.55 am at Mumbai’s iconic single-screen theatre, Gaiety Galaxy, and the opening was quite impressive. However, the reviews as of now are average. Some people are calling it entertainment with a social message, while others are calling it a lackluster movie with few good scenes.

Dunki Overall Review

‘Dunki’ is the third movie of Shah Rukh after Pathan (25th January) and Jawan (September). These previous two movies made and broke all the records, with Jawan making history by becoming the fastest Bollywood movie to enter the Rs 500 Cr club. Talking about Dunki, the Rajkumar Hirani-directed comedy drama has everything we thought of, a simple story revolving around a group of friends who are willing to move abroad despite having a deep cultural connection with their hometown. However, the road to London isn’t easy as they face language struggles which makes it difficult for them to get a visa. However,  one tragic incident makes Hardy(Shah Rukh), Mannu (Taapsee), Balli (Anil Grover), and Buggu (Vikram Kochhar) take the unexplored route to London.

The movie is totally dependent on the writing and the characters, with minimum affect of VFX and action. While the audience is recently inclining more towards action-thriller, Dunki promises everything in neutral tone. You’ll see Shah Rukh in action, romance, and his humorous Punjabi accent is the cherry on top. While the main attraction of the movie is how SRK pulls the story together with his performance, Vicky Kaushal’s role as Sukhi is worth applauding, as the actor made sure to do full justice with his role. SRK and Tapsee’s chemistry was average, but both of them complemented each other’s comic timing gracefully. Raju Hirani made sure to give a big room to the cast, which proved to be a plus point for the story.

Dunki Twitter Review

If we look into Hirani’s other work like 3 Idiots and PK, Dunki would be considered an average Hirani directorial. However, fans shared their opinions on the ‘X’ app after watching ‘Dunki’ on big screens. The movie was something between ‘Outstandingly done’ and ‘Perfectly Portrayed’. Check out what fans said about the movie.
